I-5 - Nulle Road to Iowa St Vicinity Paving Project - Completed August 2016

Overview
WSDOT repaved several sections of a 10-mile stretch of northbound and southbound I-5 between Nulle Road and Iowa Street in the Bellingham area to improve and preserve the highway. All of the North Lake Samish Drive on- and off-ramps were also repaved.

How You Benefit
Cross GlyphImproves Safety
Repaving these sections of highway eliminated cracks and rutting, reducing the opportunity for standing water on the roadway. Repaving the bridge deck helps preserve the bridge structure.
Dollar Sign Glyph Economic Incentive
This project extends the life of the highway and reduces annual maintenance costs. Without this planned work, unscheduled emergency closures to make repairs could have become necessary at some point with little or no notice to drivers and businesses, resulting in a negative impact on the local economy.
