Crews repaired concrete panels on I-5 between I-205 and the North Fork Lewis River Bridge, just south of Woodland.

Overview
Through this project, crews repaired concrete panels on I-5 between I-205 and the North Fork Lewis River Bridge, just south of Woodland. Concrete panels had deteriorated over the years, and this project restored the areas where the concrete panels had deteriorated.

To repair this section of I-5, a concrete rehabilitation process was used. This rehabilitation process entailed replacing concrete panels and installed dowel bars between panels, joining the panels together. This process also included grinding the ruts in the pavement surface resulting in a smoother ride for motorists. In addition, shoulders were repaved, pavement markings were upgraded, and safety features were improved.

Partnerships & Cooperation
An Open House was held April 11, 2006 at the Union Ridge Elementary School in Ridgefield. This event provided an opportunity for WSDOT to explain the project to the public and educate the public on traffic impacts.

Throughout construction, WSDOT updated the public about upcoming significant traffic impacts using press releases, this project Web page and the weekly travel advisory.
