I-5/ NE 175th St to NE 205th St - Shoreline

Project Description
This project will widen NB I-5 to provide an auxiliary lane between NB on ramp at NE 175th St to NB off ramp at NE 205th St. Existing 11 foot general purpose (GP) lanes will be re-striped to 12 feet. Widening the NB on ramp at NE 175th St will provide extra GP storage at this metered location. The purpose is to improve operations and safety on I-5 by adding a NB auxiliary lane for merging and exiting traffic.

Contractor/Consultant
Project was awarded 12-06-04 to Pacific Road & Bridge Company who will begin construction in early 2005.

Recent Progress

Presently contractor is widening the median including drainage, electrical, barrier and paving work in anticipation of shifting the traffic lanes inside to provide work areas on outside along shoulders.

Design Construction Impacts

None at this time.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
The first detntion pond is constructed by 175th. street. The second detention pond will be built along the soutbound lanea once traffic is switched to the median.

Impacts to Traffic

All lanes of I-5 will stay open during day time hours; however, motorists will experience shoulder closures during day time hours along with lane, ramp and roadway closures during off peak hours for various construction activities.
