I-5 pavement - University District Seattle - Photos

Concrete is durable and is used for heavy traffic. Asphalt is used for shoulders and less well-traveled highways. In this area of southbound I-5 near the U District, the asphalt was part of the shoulder. Now, due to growing traffic demands, it's part of I-5 and, as you can see, it's not holding up as well as the concrete. This is a bumpy area that drivers routienly complain about. We will fix this area.
