I-5/Grand Mound to Maytown Stage One -Add Lanes (Thurston County)

Project Description
This project widens I-5 from Grand Mound (US 12 West I/C) to Maytown by adding one lane in each direction. The work includes flattening an existing freeway curve, improving the Grand Mound and Maytown interchange ramps, and improving Rest Area ramps. There are currently four lanes. There will be six lanes when this project is completed.

Contractor/Consultant
The project was awarded 3-17-2008 to Scarsella Bros., Inc.

Recent Progress
Project has been awarded.

Design Construction Impacts
Execution pending.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance

This project will have minor wetland impacts.  The project will use wetland bank credits that have been established in the corridor to mitigate for project impacts.

The Contractor must comply with imposed restrictions outlined in the contract provisions.  An Environmental Compliance Plan has been prepared.

Impacts to Traffic
During construction, nighttime lane closures and daytime width reductions will be necessary.  Bridge replacement will require long term narrowing of lanes and traffic shifts.
