I-5 - Elm St. to North Kelso Ave. Interchange - Illumination Rebuild

Why is WSDOT upgrading the lighting systems on Interstate 5 near Kalama and Kelso?
This project will replace aging lighting systems lining the interstate with more efficient LED lighting, reducing maintenance and electricity costs.

What should drivers expect?
Beginning in Summer 2017, drivers should plan for ramp impacts and single-lane closures on both directions of I-5 near Elm Street and Oak Street near Kalama (exit 30); and Allen Street and North Kelso Avenue near Kelso (exits 39 and 40).

Improved reliability, maintainability, and system efficiency.

Project Benefits
Economic: Newly installed lighting systems are more efficient, lowering maintenance and operational costs.
Environmental: LED lighting reduces energy consumption. 

What is the project timeline?
Summer 2017: Project scheduled to be advertised for competitive bid. 
Summer 2017: Construction scheduled to begin. 
Fall/Winter 2017: Project scheduled to be complete.
