Project Description
This project is a partnership with Lewis County to reduce flood impacts to I-5 and the Chehalis River Basin by raising and widening Airport Way, a frontage road on the west side of I-5.

Recent Progress
The Draft Project Management Plan for the Skookumchuck Dam modification design was reviewed, and comments were provided to the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. This management plan specifically addresses the techinical review analysis and design for modifying the existing Skookumchuck Dam, phase 1 of the flood control study. The final Project Management Plan is expected in early 2004.

Design Construction Impacts
At this time there are no known design issues that will impact the scope, schedule or budget for this project.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers completed the Final General Reevaluation Report and the Final Environmental Impact Statement for this project. The Corps will now proceed with the environmental impact study for the preferred alternative. This study will detail the project's direct and indirect environmental impacts (natural, ecological, societal and economic) in order to guide final design and construction.
