WSDOT replaced one girder on the Birch Bay-Lynden Road Bridge, while repairing another. The bridge, which runs over I-5, was struck by an excavator being carried on a flatbed truck in May 2015.
With the new girder, the Birch Bay-Lynden Road overpass goes back to having two lanes for vehicles and pedestrian walkways.
| Economic Incentive
The Birch Bay-Lynden Road overpass is an important east-west link to northern Whatcom County residents and businesses.
