Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending March 2008

Project Title & Location
I-5, Bakerview Road to the Nooksack River Bridge, concrete pavement reconstruction, Bellingham to Ferndale

Project Description
This project will repair and replace segments of southbound Interstate 5 from Ferndale to Bellingham, between Bakerview Road and the Nooksack River Bridge.

Contractor/Consultant
The project has not been advertised or awarded.

Recent Progress
Project has been delayed for two years to help balance the state wide paving program. The project design resumed in Fall 2007 and project advertisement is scheduled for July 2008.  Approximately 25 miles of plastic striping has been added to the project.

Design Construction Impacts
Impacts from the design and construction are not known yet.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
A detailed analysis of the project's environmental impacts will be completed and, if necessary, an appropriate plan for mitigation of impacts will be developed and documented as part of the environmental documentation and environmental permitting processes.

Impacts to Traffic
During construction SB traffic will be reduced from two to one lane.

Begin Prelim Engineering November  2007  November 2007 Started development of project design.
Right of Way Certified NA No additional right of way is anticipated.
Environmental Complete Sept. 2008 This project is expected to be NEPA Categorically Excluded and SEPA-DNS.
Advertisement Oct. 2008 No issues at this time.
Open to Traffic Fall 2009 No issues at this time.
