Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending December 2005

Project Title & Location
I-5, Bakerview Road to the Nooksack River Bridge, concrete pavement reconstruction, Bellingham to Ferndale

Project Description
This project will repair and replace segments of southbound Interstate 5 from Ferndale to Bellingham, between Bakerview Road and the Nooksack River Bridge.

Contractor/Consultant
The project has not been advertised or awarded.

Recent Progress

In September 2004 WSDOT delayed advertisement of this project to January 2007, to coincide with future funding for the associated pavement preservation work.

The project office will provide documentation to eliminate the slope flatting and ramp taper lengthening work based upon impacts to wetlands and accident history. The deletion of this work will remove the Nickel funding from this project.

Design Construction Impacts

The project is on hold, because of the advertisement delay and is scheduled to restart March 2006.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
No wetland impacts are anticipated with the elimination of the slope flattening portion of this project. No add impervious surfacing is anticipated for this project.

Impacts to Traffic

Impacts from the design and construction are not known yet.
