Project overview
WSDOT built three noise walls along the west side of I-5 between 5th Avenue NE and NE 92nd Street in North Seattle to reduce the high level of noise coming off the freeway and into the adjacent Green Lake and Licton Springs neighborhoods.
What's new?
Some additional landscaping will be necessary on the freeway side of the noise wall beginning fall 2009.
Project timeline
Construction began in July 2008 and was completed June 2009. Some landscaping work remains and will take place during fall 2009.
The end result
Nearby residents are now benefiting from a reduction in traffic noise coming off of I-5. The noise walls constructed in this area are reducing noise levels by up to half in areas closest to the walls.
