I-5, 52nd Ave. W. to SR 526 - SB Paving & Safety

Lynnwood to Everett, Snohomish County

Project Description
Interstate Safety portion: Upgrades the 44th Ave W southbound on-ramp to current design guidelines. Upgrades illumination and guardrail in the 44th Ave W interchange area. Installs 5 miles of median barrier between 52nd Ave W and 128th St SW. ACP Overlay portion: Resurface southbound I-5 from MP 180.10 to MP 189.30. Shoulders will be excluded from the mainline portion of the project. Resurface the SB ramp at the 44th Ave W interchange, and the SB on and off ramps at the I-405 interchange.

Recent Progress

The Contractor began work on June 19 by doing some survey work and adjusting monument cases along the center of the roadway.  They began milling the old asphalt surface on July 10, 2006.

Design Construction Impacts

Project scope changed to remove 5 miles of median barrier and to add SR 524 bridge rail retrofit.  Also the north limit of HMA overlay has been moved from MP 189.30 to 188.65 to match Everett HOV desgin/build project.

Project's advertisement date has been delayed to March 27, 2006.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
No significant impacts.  Mitigation efforts include avoidance measures, adherence to permit requirements, and implementation of BMP's.

Impacts to Traffic

All work on I-5 will happen at night to minimize impact to the traveling public.  Work will start in June and be completed by the end of September.
