I-405 - NE 30th & NE 44th St Ramp Improvements - Project Photos

NE 30th Street
NE 30th Street on-ramp complete
The rebuilt NE 30th Street on-ramp to northbound I-405 in Renton has a bus only lane and a general purpose lane. When the ramp is metered, vehicles can use the left shoulder as a second general purpose lane, allowing more room for vehicles on the ramp.

The old NE 30th Street on-ramp to northbound I-405 had a single metered lane and an HOV lane.

Completed NE 44th Street ramp
By moving the metering signal on the NE 44th Street on-ramp closer to northbound I-405 in Renton, crews were able to add a second metered lane. This allows more room on the ramp for vehicles, reducing backups onto NE 44th.

The original NE 44th Street on-ramp to northbound I-405 was one lane, which often caused traffic to back up onto the city street.
