This artist's drawing looking north shows the HOV direct access ramps connecting to the new bridge over I-405 at NE 128th Street in Kirkland.
Features of the new bridge include:
- one general-purpose lane and one HOV lane in each direction across I-405 (eastbound and westbound), plus turn lanes
- bike lanes and sidewalks
- covered walkways that will stretch from the Kingsgate Park-and-Ride lot (left of this picture) to flyer stops at the top of the ramps in the freeway median
- signals at the intersections on both ends of the bridge (at 116th Avenue NE and Totem Lake Blvd.)
Our modifications to NE 128th Street will end just east of Totem Lake Blvd. and a couple hundred feet west of 116th Ave NE.
We've opened other direct access projects and are planning, designing and building more of these projects to make trips faster and safer for drivers and transit riders around the greater Puget Sound region.
