Construction on the new northbound I-405 lane is underway. Please visit this page throughout the week, as we continually update it with the latest construction schedule information.
On Oct. 26, we broke ground on construction. Check out our flickr Web site to see pictures from the event.
What are the next steps?
- Sunday, Nov. 22 - the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 25 - Crews will close the right lane of northbound I-405 from NE 195th Street to the NE 228th Street overpass nightly from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for construction work.
Chances are if you’re headed through Bothell over the next couple of weeks on northbound I-405, you’ll notice changes in the landscape on the east side of the road. Starting this week crews will begin removing roadside vegetation including shrubs, trees, and underbrush to make way for a new northbound lane. Our contractor, Kiewit Pacific Co., carefully mapped the area and came up with a plan to save as many trees as possible in construction area in preparation for the lane.
Once the lane is finished and open to traffic it will help reduce congestion on northbound I-405 and increase highway speeds during peak-hour travel times.
