Two cranes work to pour the base of one of the piers that will eventually support the new I-405 bridge over Oakesdale Way and Springbrook Creek.
A worker in a cherry picker helps direct the flow of concrete into the shaft. The cranes pull the large metal casing out while concrete fills the shaft in the ground.
Strengthening a Seattle Public Utility water main
In January, construction crews began work to re-line a Seattle Public Utility water main pipe. The pipe runs parallel to I-405 and Tukwila Parkway. It's being strengthened to protect it from the weight of construction equipment for the freeway widening and a future retaining wall along I-405.
