I-405 - Bothell/Canyon Park Freeway Station - Complete June 2007

Overview
WSDOT and Sound Transit built a bus stop and bus-only lane on the southbound I-405 on-ramp from northbound State Route 527 in Bothell. We built a covered pedestrian bridge over the entire width of I-405 from the new bus stop to the Canyon Park park-and-ride lot on the east side of I-405. Contractor Wilder Construction began construction in July 2006 and we opened the station for service in June 2007.

How You Benefit
Cross GlyphImproves Safety
The covered pedestrian bridge over the freeway provides bus riders a safe route to walk to and from the freeway ramp bus stop. The bus-only lane on the ramp helps buses and other traffic merge safely.
Car GlyphRelieves Congestion
Removing southbound transit buses from city streets near the Canyon Park park-and-ride lot helps reduce traffic congestion in this area. The project also helps improve transit speed and reliability.
Leaf Glyph Protects Environment
We modified an existing detention pond near the freeway station to clean runoff. We installed devices to control erosion and improve drainage. We built retaining walls to protect areas that might be negatively affected by traffic.
