I-5 and SR 501 Paving - Vancouver

On time: Good The work was completed on schedule. On Budget: Good The project was $26,720 under the $1.5 million budget.

Long-term paving projects through urban areas can create traffic jams and frustrated motorists. Add in truck traffic to a busy port, and traditional paving schedules prove inadequate. WSDOT concentrated efforts to rebuild nine miles of road through downtown Vancouver over the course of two weekends by closing the road to do the project Friday night to early Monday morning.

In addition to resurfacing the streets, adding to longer life of the roads, the new pavement provides a much smoother ride and reduced noise for adjacent neighborhoods.
