I-405 HOV Lanes - Bothell to Swamp Creek

Report Card

On time: Good
The project is expected to be completed 8 to 12 months early.

On Budget: Fair
The project is expected to come in 3% to 5% over its $36.1 million dollar budget

This project, still underway, will complete HOV system along entire I-405 corridor between Southcenter and Swamp Creek near Lynnwood by adding over 3.5 miles of new HOV lanes. Originally scheduled for completion in late 2003, the project is on target to be completed about eight to twelve months early, with the northbound lane opening before the end of this year, weather-dependent.

In addition to the new lanes, WSDOT is improving water quality by detaining and treating storm water run-off rather than sending it to six adjacent salmon-bearing streams. This will reproduce the environmental conditions that existed before the freeway was built.

We are also adding a highway advisory radio, ramp meters, HOV bypass lanes, traffic cameras and detection loops to improve our abilities to manage traffic and communicate with the public about on-going conditions on the highway.
