Highway 512 Paving Contract - Puyallup
 |

On time: Good The project was completed 14 days ahead of schedule
On Budget: Good The project came in $230,000 under the estimated $1.58 million budget
|
WSDOT repaved nearly 3 miles of State Route 512 between I-5 and Pacific Highway SR 7 in Tacoma, including the on and off ramps.
To minimize impacts to public, the contractor, Woodworth and Company, completed the bulk of the work in two weekends, rather than over a longer period of time that would have created more delays to drivers. We did this by closing sections of the highway completely over two separate weekends to do the paving.
In addition to saving time and reducing impacts for motorists, closing the freeway to do the work improves the quality of the job, provides a safer environment for workers, and reduces overall costs.
