I did not pay the toll and went across the bridge. What do I do?
The only way to pay for a missed toll after the fact is by, in the hours immediately following, setting up a Good To Go! electronic toll account. The missed toll will post to the pre-paid electronic toll account instead of becoming a violation. Good To Go! customers pre-pay at least $30 in tolls to the account and buy a transponder for $12. This option may be a better alternative than receiving a toll infraction, because the prepaid $30 is your money to be used toward future tolls. If you do not set up a Good To Go! account, the licensed owner of the violating vehicle will receive a toll citation in the mail within a week after the violation occurred.
What is a toll infraction?
In order to meet the obligation to collect a toll from every vehicle that passes over the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, a violation process is in place for those who do not pay the toll. If a vehicle passes through a tolling facility and does not stop to make the toll payment, photos of the vehicle's license plate are taken. These photos are then reviewed and the license plate number is given to the Department of Licensing, who then provides the name and address of the registered owner of the vehicle in violation. The vehicle’s registered owner will then received a citation issued by the Washington State Patrol. More information on the violation processing system.
I have a Good To Go! Account, but received a toll infraction, why?
Occasionally, drivers with Good To Go! accounts receive violations by mistake. If your account is in good standing and has funds available for toll payments, please contact the Good To Go! customer service center at 1-866-936-8246 to resolve the problem quickly and easily.
If I receive a toll infraction, will it affect my driving record?
If you receive a toll infraction for not paying the toll, it is not a moving violation, therefore it does not affect your driving record. These citations are in the same category as a parking ticket, therefore failing to pay the toll infraction will make it difficult to renew your vehicle registration.
