Join Snohomish County to celebrate the reopening of Mountain Loop Road
June 26, 2008
On Saturday, June 28, come celebrate the reopening of Mountain Loop Road, the 100-mile scenic route that winds through the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. The road has been closed over Barlow Pass since fall 2003, when flooding washed out four sections of the roadway.

The National Forest Service and local officials will reopen the “loop” at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon on Saturday, June 28 at Barlow Pass. And, the celebration doesn't end there - you’re also invited to join the communities of Arlington, Darrington and Granite Falls for concerts, parades, barbecues and street fairs that will be held throughout the weekend.
Though not a state highway, Mountain Loop Road connects State Route 92 through Granite Falls with State Route 530 in Arlington. The drive is a popular route among outdoor enthusiasts and local residents. Visit the Mountain Loop Experience Web site for more information and for a complete list of this weekend’s activities.
