Striping season crew locations this week

Crews will install over a mile of guardrail and remove potentially dangerous objects, such as tree stumps or boulders, from the side of the road from Gold Bar to Skykomish and SR 92 near Granite Falls.

US 2: One mile east of Index Slide Repair

Crews have completed temporary repairs and stabilized the road after a landslide caused the eastbound lane to sink over seven feet. The road will not be returned to its original configuration until after a permanent fix is in place.
- Until Further Notice - A slide has shifted lanes on US 2 near Index. Drivers should be aware that the speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph in the area and there are very narrow to no shoulders.
US 2: Construction Closures Related to I-5 Everett Freeway Expansion, #6991

WSDOT and Sound Transit will build a park-and-ride facility in the Interstate 5 median north of 112th Street SE. We will also build new HOV ramps and widen 112th Street SE. This will enhance safety and reduce slowdowns caused by weaving or merging traffic, resulting in shorter commute times for all drivers.
- DRIVER ALERT - Saturday, May 10 – Crews will close all lanes of southbound I-5 at SR 527 at 11:59 p.m. to install new sign bridges and remove work platforms from the bridge decks. Crews will reopen one lane at 7 a.m. on Sunday, May 11, with all lanes open by 10 a.m. Drivers will follow a signed detour using SR 527 and 128th St SE.

I-5: Everett, SR 526 to US 2 HOV Lanes, #6991

We will extend carpool lanes on Interstate 5 between SR 526 and US 2 in Everett. We will also rebuild the 41st Street interchange and improve 19 bridges. This project will help fix one of our state's most notorious bottlenecks.
Mainline I-5: Effective through May 2008
Lanes Closed North & Southbound every weeknight - Crews are continuing to close multiple lanes of I-5 throughout the project on Monday through Thursday nights and occasional Friday nights in both directions in various locations between SR 526 (Boeing Freeway) and Marine View Drive in Everett. A minimum of one lane northbound and one lane southbound will remain open at all times unless otherwise noted.
The first southbound lane can close as early as 7 p.m. with all lanes reopening by 4 a.m. The first northbound lane usually closes at 10 p.m. with all lanes reopening by 6 a.m. When lanes are closed Friday night they will usually reopen by 8 a.m. Saturday.
The WSP will conduct occasional rolling slow downs on an as-needed basis, closing the one open lane (either direction), usually between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. These slow downs may cause delays of up to 20 minutes.
The three right lanes and/or three left lanes of I-5 northbound may be closed for traffic shifts if it’s dry, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, May 5 – May 8 between Lowell Bridge and Marine View Drive for traffic shifts and striping. Crews will flip closures from right to left lanes as needed. This night work will include ramp closures. Rain will postpone work to the next dry night.
Southbound three left lanes may be closed Friday, May 9 starting with two lanes at 8 p.m. and the third lane at 9 p.m. between Lowell Rd. and SR 529. Lanes reopen at 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning and again close Monday – Thursday, May 12 – May 16 between Marine View Drive and Lowell Bridge while crews pave, stripe, and remove signage.
Full Weekend Closures: Rain will delay this work to the next dry weekend.
Broadway flyover exit - will be closed Friday night through Sunday morning, May 16 -18 between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. for installation of traffic loops. 41st Street exit northbound should remain open.
Old Broadway northbound across the Cascade Bridge to Broadway Avenue – will be closed Friday night through Sunday morning, May 16 -18 between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. for installation of traffic loops. 41st Street exit northbound should remain open.
I-5 Southbound to Everett Avenue and to US 2 eastbound - will be closed Friday night through Sunday morning, May 16 -18 between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. for grinding and paving of ramps.
Marine View Drive on-ramp to I-5 southbound – will be closed Friday night through Sunday morning, May 16 -18 between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. for grinding and paving of ramps.
Ramp Closures: Weather permitting, all ramps within the Everett HOV Project are posted for night closure but may remain open pending weather and equipment availability.
Pacific Avenue on-ramp to southbound I-5 – will be closed Monday and Tuesday, May 12-13 between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. for paving and striping.
US 2 westbound to I-5 southbound and auxiliary lane – will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, May 12-13 between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. for paving and striping. California Avenue will remain open all week.
All northbound I-5 ramps from SR 526/527 – will be closed Saturday, May 17 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday morning.
SR 526 eastbound to northbound I-5 – will also be closed each weeknight night for the next three weeks. Work this week begins Monday, May 12 – Sunday, May 18 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Broadway Avenue to I-5 southbound – the ramp will be open during day-work Monday- Tuesday, May 12 - 13 but will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday – Wednesday nights, May 13-14.
Everett Street Closures: Effective until June 2008 - As crews continue working on the I-5 bridges between the Boeing Freeway (SR 526) and Marine View Drive in Everett, drivers may experience congestion during the day on the following city streets as flaggers reroute traffic:
• Lowell Road/52nd Street: will be under flagger control for the next three weeks. Drivers should watch for flagger direction.
• Pacific Avenue under I-5: will have only two lanes open Friday, May 16 at 7:30 a.m. until Sunday, May 18 at 6 a.m.

The Tulalip Tribes are working to widen Quil Ceda Blvd to improve traffic flow and allow for future expansion of the 116th street intersection.
- Monday, May 12 - Friday May 15 - Flaggers will restrict traffic to one lane each direction just west of the 116 street NE off and on ramps of I-5 from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., each day for site excavation.

We will repave just under a half mile of SR 532 from just west of Old Highway 99 to just east of the I-5 overpass to extend the paving project we completed last fall. Crews will repair cracks and grind down the old surface before placing a new overlay of pavement. This smoother surface will improve safety and extend the life of the road.
