Express Lanes Schedule Changes

Description: The I-5 express lanes are used to assist the flow of traffic during busy travel times. These lanes are scheduled to move in the direction that will relieve the most congestion from the transportation system.

  • **HIGH IMPACT** Saturday, June 2 & Sunday, June 3 - The northbound I-5 express lanes will be closed all weekend for "Revive I-5" construction work. The lanes will be open in the southbound direction from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
NB S 260th St to Duwamish River Br Concrete Pavement Rehab & ADA - #8992

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are rehabilitating northbound I-5 between South 260th Street in Des Moines and the Duwamish River Bridge in Tukwila.

  • Monday, May 21, to the morning of Friday, May 25 - Up to three lanes of northbound I-5 between SR 516 and the Duwamish River Bridge will be closed beginning at 8 p.m. nightly. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. This work is weather dependent.
S 188th St to NE 80th St Camera Installation - #9147

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are replacing 37 expansion joints and large sections of concrete pavement on northbound I-5 between MLK Junior Way South/SR 900 in Tukwila and Northeast Ravenna Boulevard in Seattle.

  • Monday, May 21, to the morning of Friday, May 25 - Up to three lanes of northbound I-5 between the West Seattle Bridge and SR 520 will be closed beginning at 8 p.m. nightly. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. This work is weather dependent.

  • Monday, May 21, to the morning of Friday, May 25 - The University Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly. This work is weather dependent.
  • Monday, May 21, to the morning of Friday, May 25 - The northbound I-5 off-ramp to Seneca Street will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly. This work is weather dependent.
SB S Lucile St to Spring St Pavement Repair & ADA - #9235

Express Lanes Entrances Electronic Sign Replacement

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are replacing the sign structures and brackets, along with the electrical and fiber optic systems at seven entrances to the I-5 express lanes. A few of the sign structures will also be redesigned to create a better viewing angle.

Ship Canal Bridge Deck Repair Work

Description: WSDOT maintenance crews are performing deck repair work on the I-5 Ship Canal Bridge in downtown Seattle.
Work schedule:

  • **HIGH IMPACT** Saturday, June 2 - Southbound I-5 traffic will be reduced to two lanes across the Ship Canal Bridge from 2 a.m. to noon. This work is weather dependent.
  • **HIGH IMPACT** Sunday, June 3 - Southbound I-5 traffic will be reduced to two lanes across the Ship Canal Bridge from 2 to 11 a.m. This work is weather dependent.
  • **HIGH IMPACT** Sunday, June 3 - The Northeast 45th Street on-ramp to southbound I-5 will be closed from 2 to 11 a.m. This work is weather dependent.
Ebey Slough Bridge to SR 531 Interchange Paving & ADA Compliance - #9028

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are repaving an 8-mile stretch of southbound I-5 between SR 531 and SR 529, and about 7-miles of northbound I-5 between SR 529 and 136th Street Northeast in Marysville.

Stanwood to Mount Vernon Area - Northwest Washington Cable Barrier Upgrades - #9144

Description: WSDOT contractor crews from Petersen Brothers are upgrading nearly 40 miles of median cable barrier on six different highways in four different counties. Work on each stretch will take about two weeks and the contractor will complete one section before moving on to the next. Neighbors living near the work zones will hear a drill rig, which often sounds like a vehicle revving its engine, drilling, clunking and thudding as bases and posts are put into place. If you have noise complaints about this project, call the toll-free noise hotline at 1-888-808-4DOT (4368).

Bow Area - WSDOT Maintenance Work

  • Tuesday, May 22, to the morning of Wednesday, May 23 - Crews will close the left lane of southbound I-5 at Bow Hill Road and the southbound on-ramp to I-5 at Bow Hill from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for annual maintenance.

Lake Samish Vicinity Stormwater Pipe Replacement - #9161

Description: WSDOT contractor crews from Faber Construction are improving culverts and drainage along I-5 between Burlington and Bellingham.
