This webpage contains information about WSDOT construction projects affecting vehicle or pedestrian traffic through downtown Seattle and SODO. If a highway is not listed below, there are no scheduled lane closures at this time, although emergency lane closures may still occur.

Express Lanes Schedule Changes

Description: WSDOT uses the I-5 express lanes to assist the flow of traffic during busy travel times. These lanes are scheduled to move in the direction that will relieve the most congestion from the transportation system.

NB MLK Jr Way to NE Ravenna Br Pavement Repair - #8952

Description: WSDOT contractor crews are replacing 37 expansion joints and large sections of concrete pavement on northbound I-5 between MLK Junior Way South/SR 900 in Tukwila and Northeast Ravenna Boulevard in Seattle.

Ship Canal Bridge Inspection Work

Description: WSDOT maintenance crews are performing FHWA inspection work on the Ship Canal Bridge in Seattle.
Work schedule:

  • Saturday, July 29 - The right lane of northbound I-5 on the Ship Canal Bridge will be closed from 5 to 10 a.m.
  • Sunday, July 30 - The right lane of southbound I-5 on the Ship Canal Bridge will be closed from 5 to 10 a.m.
Two-Way Transit and HOV Operations (Stage 3) - #8662

Description: WSDOT and Sound Transit contractor crews are adding HOV lanes to both directions of I-90 between Seattle and Bellevue and preparing the center roadway for East Link light rail.

Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Project

Seafair Torchlight 8k/5k Run

Description: A section of the northbound SR 99 Alaskan Way Viaduct will be closed for the Seafair Torchlight run.
Schedule:

  • Saturday, July 29 – The northbound lanes of the State Route 99 Alaskan Way Viaduct between Royal Brougham Way and Harrison Street will be closed from 5 to 7:45 p.m.
West Approach Bridge North - #8625

Description: The West Approach Bridge North Project is the latest phase of construction of the SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Program and will extend SR 520's three westbound lanes from the new floating bridge to the Montlake area in Seattle.
