I-5 concrete rehabilitation - fixing the worst of the worst
Crews are busy removing and replacing 64 of the worst concrete panels on I-5 and smooth three miles of northbound I-5 between Military Road South and S. 260th Street in King County.
I-5 through King County is nearly 50 years old and it's showing lots of wear and tear.
But, WSDOT can't replace all of it at once, so crews are replacing the worst of the worst.
The project on I-5 in south King County is now underway. The tennis ball in the photo above provides a good perspective for just how deep some of the cracks are. You can see more photos of the deteriorating concrete on WSDOT's Flickr site.
WSDOT is developing a list of prioritized areas where the need is greatest.
