Chuckanut interchange plans focus on roundabouts, park and ride

Congestion and collisions are a regular occurrence at the I-5, SR 11 interchange in Burlington, and engineers believe roundabouts are part of the solution. Review our plans and contribute suggestions at the March 4 open house.

Open house
Engineers from the city and state will be available to answer questions and provide support from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 4 at Burlington City Hall.

Collisions
On average 10,000 drivers use the interchange every day. From 2002 to 2006, there were 91 collisions in the vicinity of Chuckanut interchange. Thirty-six people were injured one person died as a result.

Four projects will be at the open house:
• Roundabouts and ramp improvements at Chuckanut interchange
• New park and ride at Chuckanut interchange
• Widening Burlington Boulevard and adding roundabouts
• Widening SR 20 from Memorial Highway to I-5

Can't make the open house?
If you can’t make the open house, you can still get involved: write a letter, call on the phone, send an e-mail, schedule a visit to a project office, or visit project Web pages.
