I-5: SR 532 to Starbird Road pavement repair

We will repair and replace cracked and broken concrete pavement along six miles in the right lane of southbound I-5 between State Route 532 and Starbird Road, near the Skagit/Snohomish county line.

  • CONTINUOUS RIGHT LANE CLOSURE thru Nov. 13: Crews will close the right lane between milepost 216 and 217 around the clock to repair and replace damaged concrete panels.
  • NIGHTTIME RIGHT LANE CLOSURE Nov. 9-12: Crews will close two right lanes from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. near Starbird Road to remove concrete barrier and restripe the roadway.

SR 9: Pedestrian/Bicycle improvements (Sedro-Woolley)

Crews with the city of Sedro-Woolley will construct sidewalks and add curb, gutter and drainage along a stretch of SR 9 north of the city.

  • Lane closures/shifts 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 9-12: Crews may shift lanes and intermittently close one lane so crews can work near the road. Flaggers will direct traffic through the area.

SR 20: Rumblestrip Project statewide (Northwest)

This project will install rumble strips on various two-lane state routes throughout Washington State. Centerline rumble strips are a proven low-cost method of dramatically reducing cross-over collisions by alerting inattentive drivers when they are crossing into oncoming traffic. 

  • Moving lane closures 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday, between Oak Harbor and Coupeville: This is a moving operation. Crews will close lanes as necessary to grind rumble strips into the highway.

SR 20: Quiet Cove Road to SR 20 Spur, Stage 2, #7532

We will widen and realign State Route 20 between South Lake Campbell Road and the Miller/Gibraltar Road intersection. We will also add turn lanes and make other intersection improvements. Changes along this section of highway should reduce crashes and improve traffic flow south of Anacortes.

  • Expect to see crews working along the shoulders during the day near Miller and Campbell Lake roads to install signs, fence and mailboxes, and complete miscellaneous cleanup tasks. This work is off the road and should not impact traffic.

SR 20: Fruitdale/McGarigle road improvements

Crews with the city of Sedro-Woolley will add drainage and pedestrian improvements and widen a stretch of SR 20 near Fruitdale Road and along McGarigle Roads.

  • Fruitdale Road, left-turn lane closed: Crews have closed access to Fruitdale Road from eastbound SR 20 and closed the left-turn lane.

SR 530: Roadside safety improvements

Crews will install guardrail, remove fixed objects and improve roadsides to reduce collisions and improve safety. Funding for this project is provided by the 2005 Transportation Partnership Funding Package.

SR 534: Roadside safety improvements

  • Lane closures from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Nov. 9, 10, 12, 13 near Lake Sixteen Road: Crews will install guardrail.

SR 539: Ten Mile Road to Lynden Widening #7469

We will widen the highway from two lanes to four lanes and add roundabouts at four key intersections. We will build a new bridge over the Nooksack river and replace or upgrade four other bridges. Widening the highway will relieve congestion and improve traffic flow.

  • LANE CLOSURES 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Nov. 9-13: Crews will close one lane between between Pole Road and the Lynden city limits to complete paving, striping and drainage work.
  •  INTERMITTENT LANE CLOSURES Nov. 9-13: Crews will close one lane at night and during the day as needed between between Ten Mile and Pole roads to work install cable barrier in the median and work along the shoulder.

SR 542: Britton to Coal Creek paving

We will resurface 17 miles of Mount Baker Highway, from Britton Road to Coal Creek Bridge. We will also resurface a half-mile of SR 9, from SR 542 to Smith Creek Bridge. We use a process known as Hot In-Place asphalt paving that heats, loosens, removes, mixes, lays down and compacts the asphalt in one swoop.

  • Intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Nov. 9-13: Crews will intermittently close lanes to install pavement markers and finish striping the roadway.
