WHITE PASS – After severe damage to US 12 closed White Pass for two weeks in December 2015, crews are ready to restore two small sections east and west of the pass, currently restricted to a single lane, to full capacity. The Washington State Department of Transportation and contractor Graham Contracting of Seattle will start work Monday, May 9.

During construction, drivers could experience as much as half an hour of additional weekday travel time over White Pass. On nights and weekends, crews will be off the road and delays will be minimal.

The contractor will work to rebuild the eastbound lane on both sides of pass at the same time. WSDOT expects to restore the highway to two lanes in time for Fourth of July travel.

Trucks and semis will be allowed through the work zones for the duration of this work, but oversized loads will be prohibited.
