ENTIAT– New bike lanes, sidewalks, parks, campgrounds, trails and more vehicle and pedestrian traffic brought about a reassessment of speed limits and traffic flow through two miles of US 97A that passes directly through town along the west bank of the Columbia River between Wenatchee and Chelan.

By raising the speed limit on the north end of town from its current 40 MPH to 50 MPH, it will match the configuration on the south end of town, both of which lead into the 1-1/2 mile section in between where the speed limit is being lowered from 40 to 35 MPH.

The new speed limit signs were installed Wednesday (May 6).

The City of Entiat and WSDOT worked together on the traffic study and WSP concurred with the recommendations. The WSDOT state traffic engineer approved the changes in March.

Milepost 215.3 to 216.8 (1.52) miles – speed reduced from 40 to 35 MPH. (South of Lakeshore Rd. to South of the Fire interpretive Center)
Milepost 216.8 to 217.4 (.58) miles – speed increased from 40 to 50 MPH. (North of the Fire Interpretive Center)
