UPDATE: Beginning at 6 p.m. today, crews will close the two right lanes on southbound Interstate 5 at S 320th Street to remove the burned double tanker truck involved in this morning's crash.

FEDERAL WAY – All lanes on southbound Interstate 5 at S 320th Street are open to traffic, following an early morning collision that closed most of the freeway until 9:45 a.m.

A double tanker truck fully loaded with gasoline crashed, caught fire and punctured a freeway sound wall at 2 a.m. Sunday. The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is investigating. The tanker driver was killed. No other injuries were reported.

All lanes reopened by 10 a.m.

WSP, WSDOT crews and nearly a dozen emergency response vehicles responded to the scene to extinguish the fire, manage traffic, conduct investigation and survey damage. As many as nine sound wall panels were damaged.

Drivers can check current traffic conditions any time on WSDOT's Seattle traffic page.
