OLYMPIA – Contractors, trade and labor organizations, small and disadvantaged businesses, and others who are interested in doing business with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) are invited to discuss setting overall goals for the agency’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program at a meeting on Wednesday, June 1, in Olympia.

The DBE program increases opportunities for minority- and women-owned small businesses to participate in federally funded transportation projects. WSDOT staff will discuss options and explain the process for goal setting. Public input will help WSDOT determine the methodology used to develop overall DBE goals for Federal Highway Administration and Federal Aviation Administration financially-assisted projects. This meeting will not address individual DBE goals for specific projects.

Those interested can attend in person or via webinar. Both will run from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on June 1. Meeting space is limited, and reservations must be made by May 27.

To attend in person, RSVP by emailing dbess@wsdot.wa.gov or by calling toll free 888-259-9143. RSVPs should include a first and last name of those attending and the business or organization they represent. The meeting will be held at the Transportation Building, Commission Boardroom, 310 Maple Park Avenue SE, in Olympia.

To attend via webinar, register at: https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/144541169.

WSDOT is preparing to set goals for Federal Fiscal Year 2012 - 2014 (Oct. 1, 2011 to Sept. 30, 2014). Interested participants who want to learn more about the goal setting process and requirements are encouraged to review 49 CFR Part 26.45 and USDOT’s Tips for Goal-Setting in the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program prior to the meeting.
