SEQUIM – A project to help ease congestion on US 101 from Sequim to Port Angeles reached a major environmental review milestone recently, and the media and public are invited to an open house this week to learn more.
Last month, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) completed the environmental assessment (EA) for the US 101 Shore Road to Kitchen-Dick Road widening project in Clallam County. An open house this week provides an opportunity to hear about highlights of the report and provide feedback. WSDOT is accepting comments on the EA until March 31.
The project adds an additional lane in each direction of US 101, creating a continuous four-lane divided highway between Sequim and Port Angeles. The additional lanes are expected to help alleviate congestion for the 19,000 vehicles that travel this route daily. The project also builds a median, improves county road intersections, makes it easier for drivers to make turns and decreases the potential for collisions.
