VANCOUVER – After a break in late August and over Labor Day weekend, crews on the Oregon Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) I-205 Glenn Jackson Bridge Joint Replacement project resume southbound double-lane closures Friday, Sept. 10.

Drivers may face delays this weekend as 140,000 vehicles that typically cross the Glenn Jackson Bridge daily are funneled into half as many lanes as usual.

Crews will close two southbound lanes on the I-205 Glenn Jackson Bridge by 9 p.m. Friday, and both lanes will remain closed until 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13.

Reducing the bridge from four lanes to two increases the chance for backups, especially during the peak traffic hours of 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. WSDOT asks drivers this weekend to plan their trips outside peak hours or take alternate routes.

Drivers can know before they go by checking the area’s online traffic-flow maps and cameras at www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/vancouver/VancouverTraffic. For statewide traffic information, visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic, or dial 511 or 1-800-695-ROAD.

This is the last scheduled around-the-clock weekend closure for southbound I-205. Crews plan to use night time double-lane closures through October to complete joint work and restripe lanes on both directions of the bridge.

ODOT is replacing 20 aging bridge joints on the north end of the Glenn Jackson Bridge this summer and fall. The joints are nearly 30 years old and at the end of their functional lifespan. The project is expected to be complete in November.
