Significant traffic impacts expected during construction next spring
WASHOUGAL – The Washington State Department of Transportation will host an open house Wednesday, Oct. 7 for three projects scheduled for construction next spring that will improve safety and mobility on SR 14 between Camas and White Salmon. Some construction work may significantly impact drivers.
Each of the projects will require lane closures, flagging and other traffic impacts. One of the projects, a rockfall project approximately 10 miles west of White Salmon, will require two-hour-long complete closures of SR 14 for blasting and scaling work. WSDOT encourages those who travel SR 14 to attend the open house and learn more about closure schedules and alternate routes.
Details of the open house are as follows:
Wednesday, October 7
4:00 – 7:00 p.m. (stop by anytime)
Mt. Pleasant Elementary School
152 Marble Road
Washougal, WA 98671
The meeting will feature three projects, funded through the 2005 gas tax and federal highway improvement funds:
SR 14 – Camas-Washougal Widening and Interchange ($57 million)
SR 14 – Cape Horn Bridge to Cape Horn Road Safety Improvements ($3.7 million)
SR 14 – Rockfall Mitigation White Salmon Vicinity ($3.8 million)
WSDOT representatives will be available to answer questions and receive public feedback on project-related concerns and suggestions. There will be no formal presentations, so attendees are encouraged to stop by anytime between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m.
