OLYMPIA - Highway construction contractors and disadvantaged businesses owners will want to take note of two opportunities to have a say in the Washington State Department of Transportation’s (WSDOT) proposed overall goals for participation in federally-assisted highway, airport and transit related projects.

WSDOT’s Office of Equal Opportunity will be holding a Webinar on July 9th and a public meeting on July 10th to discuss the proposed Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2010 overall annual Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) goals for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The purpose of the DBE Program is to create a “level-playing field” by providing equal opportunity on USDOT-assisted contracts and procurements.

The Webinar will be held on Thursday, July 9, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and pre-registration is required. Participants must pre-register by Wednesday, July 8, at: https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/400322440. A Webinar is a Web-based meeting that allows participants to give, receive and discuss information from their computer.

The public meeting, scheduled on Friday, July 10, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., is being held in conjunction with Sound Transit, as it will be discussing its overall annual DBE goals for FTA. The meeting is being held at Sound Transit’s Union Station, 401 South Jackson Street in Seattle.

For additional information regarding the public meeting or Webinar please contact Jackie Bayne, WSDOT DMWBE Contract Compliance Officer, at (360) 705-7084 or via e-mail at BayneJ@wsdot.wa.gov.
