SEATTLE – Despite dramatic weather conditions, crews working for WSDOT had a successful weekend, completing all the work they set out to do. Crews reopened all lanes of eastbound State Route 520 in Bellevue ahead of schedule, just after 3 a.m. Monday morning.

Crews replaced part of the approaches to the 130th Avenue NE overpass with new concrete slabs.

Traffic flowed smoothly through the construction area all weekend.

This $9.4 million project will employ nearly 100 workers. The project will also indirectly support workers employed at 17 companies, including 16 in Washington State.

Over the next five to seven weekends, crews will replace the approaches to five bridges on east- and westbound SR 520. Once work is complete, drivers will experience a smoother and safer drive between Redmond and Bellevue.

What’s next?

Next weekend, we plan to close two of three lanes on eastbound SR 520 at 130th Avenue NE. Drivers should expect significant delays, with backups likely extending onto I-405 and back to the SR 520 floating bridge. Drivers should choose an alternate route or allow extra time for their trips.

I-5 in Seattle

Starting Monday, March 9, crews will be back at work on Interstate 5 through Seattle. Drivers can expect to see I-5 reduced to two open lanes. Learn more about the closures on our King County construction Web site: www.wsdot.wa.gov/Northwest/King/Construction
