VANCOUVER - The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will host a public open house and formal access hearing on Wednesday, April 15, for a project that will increase safety and improve congestion along SR 14 in the Camas-Washougal area.
The open house will be held at the WSDOT Southwest Region office, 11018 NE 51st Circle, Vancouver from 4 to 6 p.m. in Conference Room 102. The access hearing will begin at 6 p.m.
WSDOT staff will present the proposed access plans for property owners next to the project area: SR 14 from 6th Avenue east to the end of the project area at Union Street. The hearing will also document testimony from owners whose property will be affected by the project. While hearing testimony must be related to property access issues, attendees will have an opportunity to discuss other questions or concerns with WSDOT staff before or after the hearing.
Residential, commercial and industrial growth has contributed to increased transportation demand along SR 14. The SR 14 Camas-Washougal Widening and Interchange project will increase safety and mobility along the corridor by updating guardrail and installing median barrier on the West Camas Slough Bridge, building two half-interchanges at Union and 2nd Streets, and improving traffic flow on SR 14.
When complete, this section of highway will better serve current and future commuter traffic demands and better accommodate the movement of goods and services.
This project is scheduled for construction in 2010.
Project information may be reviewed and obtained prior to the access hearing by visiting the project Web page at: www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/SR14/CamasWashougal, or by contacting the Project Engineer. For those unable to attend the meeting, public testimony can be mailed to:
