SEATTLE – WSDOT contractor crews have reopened all lanes of traffic after a busy weekend of construction in Seattle, Shoreline and Redmond. Crews took advantage of the relatively dry weather to accomplish all the work they had planned on I-5, SR 520 and SR 99.

In Shoreline, crews replaced 16 cracked and rutted concrete panels on southbound I-5 between NE 205th Street and NE 175th Street. Crews are on track to replace a total of 440 panels on I-5 between Seattle and Shoreline over nine more weekends of around-the-clock work. The $21 million project generates 200 jobs and provides work for 19 Washington companies.

In Redmond, crews repaved bridge approach slabs on westbound SR 520 at 130th Avenue NE and 124th Avenue NE. The $9.4 million project generates 94 jobs and provides work for 17 Washington companies.

In Seattle, crews closed the Alaskan Way Viaduct and Battery Street Tunnel for semiannual inspections. Preliminary results should be available by Friday, March 27.

Traffic
Delays on southbound I-5 in Shoreline averaged 10 to 15 minutes. The longest delays were in the early afternoon each day, when traffic backed up to 220th Street SW and delays averaged 20 to 25 minutes. Congestion on westbound SR 520 was the worst late Sunday afternoon, with average delays of 10 minutes.

What's next?
In Seattle, crews will close two lanes of southbound I-5 between Denny Way and I-90 nightly for pavement grinding. Visit the project Web site at www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/i5/seattlepavementrepair
