LYNNWOOD – WSDOT this week awarded Granite Northwest a contract to repave more than nine miles of northbound I-5 between 52nd Avenue West in Lynnwood and SR 526 in south Everett, along with one mile of SR 525 north of Lynnwood. As part of the $7.7 million project, crews will also repave the on- and off-ramps at 44th Avenue West, SR 525, I-405 and SR 526.

“This is one of four projects this summer that will extend the lifespan of I-5 in Snohomish County and give drivers a safer, smoother ride,” said John Chi, project engineer. “Together these projects will employ more than 240 people.”

Work on I-5 through Lynnwood will begin in May. Drivers can expect overnight lane and ramp closures, as well as several weekend ramp closures. Drivers should also be prepared for uneven driving surfaces during construction as crews grind down the roadway before laying new pavement. More than 80,000 drivers use northbound I-5 through Lynnwood each day.

In addition to this project, crews will also repave northbound I-5 near Everett and both directions of I-5 near Arlington, as well as replace broken concrete panels on northbound I-5 north of Stanwood.

Crews are scheduled to finish paving northbound I-5 between Lynnwood and south Everett in October. For more information, visit the project Web page at: www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/i5/52ndtosr526paving.
