SEATTLE - WSDOT will restrict flammable cargo in both directions of Interstate 90 from the Mount Baker Tunnel through the Mercer Island Lid beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 2. The restriction is expected to end by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11.

The restriction will be in effect while the fire suppression systems in the Mount Baker Tunnel and Mercer Island Lid undergo routine maintenance tests. During the restriction, drivers transporting flammable materials across Lake Washington should use alternate routes such as Interstate 405, State Route 522 or State Route 520. Drivers transporting flammable materials on westbound I-90 must exit at Island Crest Way (Exit #7) on Mercer Island. Eastbound drivers transporting flammable materials must exit at Rainier Avenue South (Exit #3) in Seattle.
