BURLINGTON – Crews will close a lane and on-ramp Monday night at the SR 20 / I-5 interchange in Burlington to replace sidewalk and curbing along the shoulder of SR 20 and begin rebuilding the I-5 on-ramp. This work will help relieve congestion at the busy interchange.

Drivers who regularly use the northbound SR 20 on-ramp will need to find an alternate route Monday night, Dec. 15. Drivers are advised to use either the George Hopper interchange (exit 229, one mile to the south) or the Chuckanut Drive interchange (exit 231, one mile to the north).

Closure details:
10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, Dec. 15: crews will close one of the eastbound lanes of SR 20 from Goldenrod Road to the northbound I-5 on-ramp. One eastbound lane will remain open.
11 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, Dec 15: crews will close the northbound I-5 on-ramp at SR 20.

This work is part of a larger project to widen and improve five miles of SR 20 from I-5 to Memorial Highway (SR 536).

The work is weather-dependent. Extremely cold weather will likely cancel the work.
