SPOKANE-The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is in the design and construction phase of the US 395/North Spokane Corridor. Construction is underway on the fifth and sixth job in a series of eight contracts on this facility as a result of the transportation funding package passed by the Legislature in 2003. In addition, another construction project, the US 2 Lowering contract, will start shortly. Design work on the final contract is underway.

An informational Open House meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 25, 2008, to update the community regarding the North Spokane Corridor, especially the current and upcoming construction projects. There will also be information on future work and the corridor design. Department staff will be on hand to answer questions about the overall status of the project and construction details. Real Estate Services Representatives will also be available. There will be no formal presentation at the Open House. Interested citizens are invited to drop by at any time during the meeting.
The open house meeting date and location is Thursday, September 25th, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Northwood Middle School, 13120 N. Pittsburg, in Spokane.

The eight construction contracts that are currently funded will create a drivable link from the vicinity of Freya and Francis to the existing US 395 near the Wandermere Golf Course. The first piece, from Francis to US 2 should open in 2009, with the second segment from US 2 to US 395 planned opening in 2011.

When fully constructed, the North Spokane Corridor will be a 60-mile per hour, limited access highway with a direct connection to I-90 just west of the existing Thor/Freya Interchange.
