Weekend paving for SR 502 Interchange to close portions of NE 10th Avenue near Duluth

BATTLE GROUND – Paving work for the I-5, SR 502 Interchange Project will close portions of NE 10th Avenue this weekend, announced the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).

Between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, NE 10th Avenue will be closed between NE 219th Street and NE 224th Street. South of the intersection at NE 219th Street and NE 10th Avenue, drivers will encounter single lane closures between NE 219th Street and NE 209th Street. The local detour will be signed and is as follows:

From the south: Traveling north on NE 10th Avenue, turn east (right) on NE 219th Street. Turn north (left) on NE 29th Avenue and west (left) on NE 259th Street. Turn right on NE 10th Avenue to continue north towards Ridgefield.

From the north: Traveling south on NE 10th Avenue, turn east (left) on NE 259th Street. Turn south (right) on NE 29th Avenue and west (right) on NE 219th Street. Turn left on NE 10th Avenue to continue south towards Vancouver.

Construction began in spring of 2007 on the SR 502 Interchange, a $56.1 million project that will connect Battle Ground directly to I-5. Crews are currently installing guardrail, barrier, illumination, and the Intelligent Transportation System along I-5. They will also begin to install sign structures and landscaping and to complete final paving work on the remainder of the project soon. Cosmetic work on the bridge, including concrete finishing and painting, and installing steel bridge railing, will continue over the next couple of months.
