BATTLE GROUND – Beginning May 7, motorists will notice new speed limit signs denoting a speed limit revision on SR 502 in Battle Ground. The new revision will lower the speed limit to 40 MPH for all vehicles traveling in both directions on SR 502 between NE 219th St (mile post 6.5) and the Albertsons shopping center (mile post 7). Currently, the 40 MPH speed limit does not begin until mile post 7.
The new speed limit is being enforced after the City of Battle Ground made a request to the WSDOT Traffic Office. Upon studies of the surrounding area and its new developments, WSDOT concluded that a lowered speed limit is appropriate for this stretch of road.
The speed limit revisions will help improve safety of the traveling public. WSDOT urges motorists to slow down and pay attention to the posted signs.
