TACOMA – Pierce County drivers get a few more tools this week to plan their trips.

WSDOT unveils an expanded flow map tomorrow, with 12 new flow detection locations along the I-5 corridor from Bridgeport to Tacoma, and on SR 512.

Crews working on this $731,000 expansion project are continuing to check fiber-optic connections and plan to flip the activation switch tomorrow morning.

The new traffic flow monitors are located at Thorne Lane, Gravelly Lake, New York Avenue, Bridgeport Way, WSDOT Lakeview maintenance shed, 96th Street, 72nd/74th Streets (northbound), 56th Street (southbound), 54th Street and Porter Way.

On SR 512, flow map locations are now at Steele Street and Pacific Avenue.

Motorists can check their routes using the new flow maps by visiting www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/tacoma/ or by calling 5-1-1 for road and traffic updates.
