If weather permits, crews in Everett will close several ramps on I-5 in north Everett starting at 8 p.m. Friday, May 1 until 5 a.m. Monday, May 5. Drivers should be prepared for detours on the following ramps:

  • southbound I-5 exit ramps to eastbound US 2 and Everett Avenue
  • westbound US 2 and Everett Avenue entrance ramps to northbound I-5
  • northbound exit ramp and southbound I-5 entrance ramp to Marine View Drive

Dry weather will allow crews to rebuild the exit ramps to US 2 and Everett Avenue, resurface the southbound I-5 entrance ramp from Marine View Drive and add drainage and guardrail to the northbound I-5 off-ramp to Marine View Drive. Crews will also alternate traffic on Marine View Drive/East Grand Avenue under I-5 to resurface that section of road.

Motorists should allow extra travel time and watch for signed detours if they are headed through the area this weekend.

This weekend’s work is part of a $263 million project to widen I-5 with additional lanes and make other freeway improvements through Everett.

Crews plan to have all lanes and ramps open to traffic by June 2008. You can find more details about the I-5 Everett HOV freeway expansion project by visiting www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/I5/HOVSR526toUS2/.
