SNOQUALMIE PASS – Drivers heading westbound over I-90 Snoqualmie Pass should expect delays. Currently, WSDOT has traffic stopped westbound at milepost 52 as crews work to clean-up snow and woody debris brought down by avalanche control work this afternoon. Eastbound lanes are not affected.

Due to warming temperatures, WSDOT avalanche experts started control work at 1:30 p.m. More than 50 pounds of explosives were used to bring down snow and debris, which broke a concrete barrier near milepost 51.

WSDOT crews are in the process of using bucket loaders, snow blowers and chain saws to remove the debris and snow from the roadway. WSDOT plans to re-open the westbound left lane at 4 p.m. Once the snow and debris is cleared from the roadway, WSDOT will re-open the remaining two westbound lanes.
