CONSTRUCTION ALERT
Jan. 25, 2008
WSDOT closes one northbound lane on SR 823 (North Wenas Road) in Selah
Drivers should expect delays Monday - Friday
SELAH – Monday through Friday, Jan. 28 – Feb. 5, on SR 823 (North Wenas Road) , one northbound lane will be closed between Goodlander Road and Harrison Road while utility relocation work is done to accommodate a sidewalk installation project. The southbound lanes will not be affected and all work will be accomplished during daylight hours.
This safety improvement project will provide a much needed sidewalk on the east side of SR 823 between Goodlander Road and Harrison Road. It will also improve the intersection at Goodlander Road to allow easier right-turns onto northbound SR 823. The northbound "jog" at the intersection of SR 823 (N. Wenas Rd. and Goodlander Rd.) will be eliminated.
The contractor will start working on the sidewalk installation in mid March if weather permits. Funding for this project is provided partially by existing gas tax funds and partially by the 2005 Legislative Transportation Partnership Account.

Traffic delay information for this and other regional construction projects can be found on the weekly construction update web page: www.wsdot.wa.gov/Regions/SouthCentral/Construction/
Note to drivers: We do our best to make work zones safe for the workers and drivers by making work zones visible with orange signs, cones, barrels, electronic messages, amber strobe lights and reflective clothing. Drivers need to do their part to help keep everyone safe on our highways by staying sober, awake, alert, keeping both hands on the wheel, eyes on the roadway, obeying speed limits and directions from flaggers. Please "give 'em a brake" by going slow through the construction zone.
Drivers can now get current traffic and weather information by dialing 5-1-1 from most phones. This new traveler information system builds upon the highly successful Washington State Highway hotline that managed 4.6 million calls each year. Callers can also use 5-1-1 to get statewide construction, mountain pass condition, and state ferry system information, as well as toll free numbers for passenger rail and airlines. TTY users can call 1-800-833-6388
