TACOMA – Striping work planned for the early morning hours Saturday, Jan. 19 requires a northbound I-5 detour and southbound lane closures between the Tacoma Mall and the Tacoma Dome.
Between midnight Friday and 5 a.m. Saturday, northbound drivers will be diverted at exit 133 (City Center), onto the new mile-long northbound collector-distributor roadway, then back to the regular northbound lanes.
Southbound drivers also should expect lane closures for the striping work.
The work is part of the I-5, 48th Street to Pacific Avenue project which wraps up in the spring. This project is one of a series of projects that combine to ease congestion, improve safety and add HOV lanes in Pierce County.
