Seattle - Washington State Ferries and the Edmonds Police Department will begin a tally system at the terminal the afternoon of Wednesday, November 21, to help manage the expected heavy traffic on the Edmonds/Kingston route. The Kingston Terminal instituted a tally system several years ago during heavy traffic times.

"The tally system is designed to keep drivers from inadvertently cutting into the ferry traffic queuing lane," explains Jayne Davis, North Regional Operations Manager. "Our drivers will courteously leave space at driveways and roadways to allow cross traffic and unknowing ferry riders will cut in line at these open spaces."

The Edmonds Police Department will hand out tally slips when traffic is exceptionally heavy at this terminal. The tally slips are then turned in at the tollbooth. Drivers who do not have a tally slip will be sent to the end of the queue.
